Golden Circle Tour Part 1

For our only full day in Iceland we decided on this tour and you will see why.  This tiny island country of 338,000 people is spectacular in every way!  We left Reykjavik by bus at 9am and headed to our first destination, the Fridheimar Cultivation Centre where cucumbers and tomatoes are grown in greenhouses year round in a computer-controlled environment.  Pollinating bumble bees are imported from Belgium and were buzzing around us on our tour.  No one seemed bothered by that!

Iceland!

We had a pretty good flight to Iceland.  6.5 hours in the air. Going through security again on arrival was a bit to take at 7:00 am local time after not much sleep on the plane.  As Iceland is our first European arrival security is paramount.  Then customs then the FlyBus which waits for every incoming flight.  Iceland is quite barren bur probably much less so than other active volcanic areas.  Iceland is the youngest geology on planet earth.

In Flight Entertainment

On our way.  After a hectic morning (after all, we are gone for 6 months! Lots to do) our lovely neighbour, Teri, got us to the airport on time even with a collapsed culvert on Hwy 99 at the Airport exit! Great flight.  Now on to Iceland.
